Who had it first?

I was walking around in my local walgreens and of course I wandered over to the nailpolish section. It is after all one of my favorite places in a store. The very first thing I see is crackle polish by Pure ICE and another section of crackle polish by Sally Hansen. I had no idea either of the two even made crackle polish! I had thought OPI was the only brand nail polish that made it. I'm not even sure how I was out of the loop on this one! lol. So then I compared prices I believe Pure ICE's crackle polish was $3.99 and Sally Hansen's was $6.99. I came home and was talking to my boyfriend's dad's wife telling her that I had seen crackle polish by Pure ICE and Sally Hansen. She said that Sally Hansen had crackle polish before OPI??? I had never seen crackle polish by Sally Hansen before. So I'm wondering if they really did have it before OPI? Or she is just sadly mistaken LOL. If anyone knows the answer to this I would love to know!

Of course I had to try out both the brands. I was disappointed with the Sally Hansen brand. If someone were to ask me if I would reccommend that nailpolish I would say no don't buy it! The nail polish didn't crack very much and the cracks were very small. I would give it a 2 out of 5 stars rating.

As for Pure ICE, I was very pleased with the out come and for only $3.99! I will be definitely be purchasing crackle polish from this brand in the future! I give Pure ICE crackle polish a 5 out of 5 stars rating!

Once again if anyone knows what brand had crackle polish first please leave it in the comments! I would love to feel "back in the loop" =P

  1. I honestly have no idea. But I do know that when I started hearing about all the crackle business, OPI was the only brand people were talking about. But now almost everyone has a crackle. Even Delia's has their own. It's crazy.

  3. sally hansen MIGHT have had it first a long time ago. i know that cover girl was the first to make it yearsssss ago. but the recent ones it was definitely OPI who came out with it first. i bought the blue one from SH and it sucked, i decided to give it another try. this time i used it over polish that was still a little bit wet and it worked pretty good! try it over polish that is slightly wet, it might work better for you! let me know! :} p.s sorry for the super long comment. lol

  5. Well I know for a fact that crackle polish itself came out in the late 1990's and I beleve it was Cover Girl who was the 1st. 1997 it was marketed around Halloween though I can not recall if it was cover-girl or what the exact brand at that time was, I can assure you sit was not OPI. OPI came out with it when it was made popular by Katy Perry shown rocking it on her nails and then everyone wanted some, other companies followed suite making their own versions and well a trend was started and made quite popular. Thanks Oliva for posting at my blog. At 1st I had no idea what you were talking about until I came here and saw the title of this post LOL.I mean I thought you were asking me who posted about this 1st which I would have to say me since I posted about it August 16th ha ha...but its a trend so many people are blogging about this stuff. I personally think its messy, clumpy and needs much top coat to make wearable to my liking but if you like messy perhaps you love it. I always thought using a good white glue like Elmer's and polish might produce the same crackle effects though I have not yet tried this. Maybe someone else just might and see what happens. Imagine if any brand nail polish could crackle with the use of a top coat of watered down school glue hmmmmm

  6. I just had ment recently. I know that cover girl had came out with it the very first time. But I didn't know who had started it again. And I've never had a problem with it being messy, but I can see why you might not like it. Thannks for posting.
